20mph

Postby wendy » 11 May 2014, 14:29

Does anyone else get fed up with cars behind nearly hitting you up the backside if you stick to the speed limits of 30 mph and 20 mph
Today a car overtook me on a small lane where it is 20mph
The speed limits are set for a purpose, and we are supposed to stick to them, but they cant wait, and they look at you as if they would kill you.

It drives me mad too.

It almost makes you go faster yourself with the pressure of some (can't think of polite word please insert your own!!!!) doing that.

There is a speed limit for a reason.

thank you Jane,
I have put this on another forum and I am getting loads of replies, I was surprised no one picked it up on Chill, so thanks
It makes me furious and you feel as though they think you are in the wrong, but it is actually them.

Everyone seem to be in a hurry on the roads these days, it's better to get these late than not at all.

But the driving changes when you get on a road where national speed limit applies, the slow drivers are then out in force travelling at 35mph on an open straight road causing tailbacks.

It's like on the motorway when someone over takes and then pulls into the safe distance you have left for the person in front of you. It gains them seconds then have to brake as they are going to fast.

makes my blood boil when I see people do this and endanger others lives.

I agree, perish the thought their kids have to walk more than 2 steps to school. I'm surprised there aren't more accidents outside schools with illegal dropping off!

It varies form school to school Wendy. If it is only at start of school or home-time, there is usually a sign giving the times of operation.

this is most interesting.
Ours in Norfolk are the standard 20mph signs, with no time limits showing.
I am going to look into this.

I have been thinking about this, if there are set times it is only in force, somewhere it would have to show this on a 20mph sign
ours are just plain 20mph signs with no wording.

Today, they resurfaced the whole of the road outside our house., & of course, we now have the problem of loose chippings, therefore at each end of the road there is a big sign stating loose chippings 10mph. Is anyone taking any notice? You bet they are not!! They are speeding up the road at their usual rate & chippings are flying everywhere, I expect a few scratches on the car tomorrow!! Makes my blood boil
