Think of the family of Robbie Williamson

Postby annie » 23 Apr 2014, 17:19

An 11-year-old boy who died after falling into the canal in Burnley last night has been named.

This  really brought it home to me, how lucky we were - this is where  we often went to play as youngsters( Without our parents knowledge). One day my cousin Alan followed us  down there, he would only be about 5 at the time, he fell in and my cousin Barb just managed to grab him as he went under, or it could have ended up tragically as with this lad.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family ca99

Robbie Williamson, a Year 7 pupil at Shuttleworth College in Padiham, died after falling into the Leeds and Liverpool Canal shortly before 7pm yesterday.

Shocked teachers and pupils have paid tribute to him.

Headteacher Mr Bob Wakefield said: “Obviously we are absolutely heartbroken and devastated at this terrible loss. Clearly at the moment our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“Robbie was a lovely lad, lots of fun. He always had a smile on his face and if you met the lad you would think he was bursting with life and energy. It’s an absolute tragedy that we’ve lost him.”
