Gershwin Gala with the John Wilson Orchestra

Katie Derham presents as-live from the Royal Albert Hall as conductor John Wilson and his orchestra celebrate the music of George and Ira Gershwin, the American songwriting duo created some of the most memorable songs to hit Broadway in the 20th century. Singers Julian Ovenden, Louise Dearman and Matthew Ford are on hand to accompany the John Wilson Orchestra as they perform popular Gershwin tunes such as Fascinatin' Rhythm, Funny Face and many more, and the ensemble's musicians showcase their skill in orchestral numbers including An American in Paris, and a Rhapsody in Blue Overture.
I have seen John Wilson's Proms on TV before - he researches the original manuscripts to get the nearest he can to what the original composers intended -well worth a look, even better if you put the subtitles up as you can have a sing-a-long-a-Prom !
