He visits late every night because he is hungry and thirsty and knows there is a meal for him
He wont stay though, he just eats and drinks then wants to go back out.
He had a bit of a half hearted scrap with my cat Charlie yesterday at the back door when he wanted to come in and Charlie wanted to go out .
It was a bit of a face off and a few spits then they both looked at me to sort it out do877
So I just left the door open for them to sort it out themselves.... I was too busy do877
A few more spits then Star moved one side and Charlie moved to the other
then they found a space to pass all the while having a bit of a hiss at each other .
Star fed and drank, then went to go back out
Charlie was waiting for him, I expected a full on cat fight
wonder of wonders , they sniffed each others noses and must have called a temporary truce.(hopefully)
Star jumped over the backyard wall and Charlie came in and went straight to his bed do877

than999 everyone. But its just an ordinary day in an ordinary household with cats.
I suppose writing about them takes my mind away from worrying about family caring issues for a while.
I am glad you enjoy reading about them.
This morning I decided to get the flea and worming spot on drops out to give star (yes he has got them)
Planned it all out, did it work?
No chance.
He didn't arrive till late when it was dark outside, no matter
I let him feed and drink
when he had finished I got the drops out,
Star didn't bother when I went to put them on him
But I hadn't realised my own cats were watching very carefully and decided that although they hate and protest being dosed
The drops were 'theirs'
They both started hissing, Star fled out of the open window, and I put the expensive drops on the kitchen floor do877

Oh yes, it is the unpredictability of cats that make life interesting. I have administered flea drops to the settee, or my arms & clothing more than once, like you say, Honey, expensive mistakes.!

Thought about leaving some food outside for him in the cat kennel, but decided not to as its been raining and the slugs are out in force
I draw the line at feeding slugs do877

Do you know, years back I did use to feed slugs. They got to be massive and they came every night for a feed.
I must have been a little mad.

Star seems to have decided not to move in, just visits every night for a few mins to have a meal, bowl of milk then go back out again.
I am ok with this as I think somebody else is feeding him too.
He looks well and is putting on weight.
My cats seem more settled too now he isn't staying around.
My old 3 legged cat Charlie has recently been very poorly, he has had some sort of infection, and has been having daily visits to the vet for treatment but thankfully he is getting better now (my credit card isn't though) do877

Oh dear, vets certainly eat your money. Boris has hyperthyroidism and arthritis, so he needs 6 monthly checks, & 2 lots of meds daily, but I ask the vet for private prescription ( around £10) & I buy both his medicines from petdrugsonline.co.uk, which are less that half the cost of the vet, It is worth a look Honey

than999 Annie for your helpful advice.
Charlie is now back to full health and has been given the all clear from the vet.
haven't seen Star for a few days but he came back tonight for a very quick meal then he went back out
I think he is missing a couple of things!
Perhaps I am right in thinking he is being cared for by somebody else too
Now I am unsure what to do.

Glad to hear that Charlie got the all clear. Stray cats often have more than one "foster" home, they are canny & know just where to go to find food.

Honey, not much you can do unless you tie a message round his neck.
Carry on enjoying his visits and cuddles.

I was wrong when I thought he was missing a couple of 'things'.
He still has them. do877
(and yes, he sprayed on the kitchen door tonight......had to get the disinfectant out and wash the door down at 11.30 pm) do877
He is visiting twice a day now for meals.
My cats just put up with him, they have seen it all before....
I suppose they think "Here we go again, another waif and stray to put up with" do877
Now I am not sure if Star is indeed being fed by somebody else anymore.
I will carry on giving him meals when he turns up but he never wants to stay after feeding.
He seems well and healthy thankfully, I will of course stay aware of his wellbeing.

update
OH was admitted into hospital on Sunday due to infection starting in a tiny puncture wound on his hand, possibly caused by gardening !
It affected his bloodstream.
Thankfully the intravenous antibiotics are working. Hoping he will soon be able to come home. He is much better today thank goodness.
Charlie became poorly again last week, took him to another vet who immediately diagnosed feline stomatitis...
he had 14 back teeth out last Friday, he is so much better now.
He should be ok from now on.
Star still just visiting for meals then away he goes.
He is ok and well.

Glad to hear OH, keeping fingers crossed he comes home today. Oh poor Charlie - glad he is feeling better too.

I wonder if Star was a truck driver in a previous life?

I can just see him stopping off at all those little roadside cafes for a snack or two or three lol

Love n Hugs

Quick Update
OH fully recovered thankfully.
Turns out that it was a small bite from Star that caused his blood poisoning and hospitalisation.
Cats have lots of bacteria in their mouths.
He went to stroke star when star was eating and star was taken unawares , became scared and bit him.
Anyway, star now only visits once in the evening for a meal and bowl of milk then away he goes.
OH doesn't blame star, he says the cat was only protecting itself.
Star is very well, and I think somebody else is feeding him too. (of which I am thankful)
Charlie is now fully recovered and so much happier without his back teeth.
He is eating normally again. He even pinched a slice of roast chicken from my plate when I wasn't looking, and he ate it without me having to cut it in to little pieces sp0
My little ex feral cat Molly and Charlie both seem more contented now they know star is just visiting briefly.
The no vacancy sign is up now for any stray cats who might be chancing their luck. do877
