Find a painting

I wonder if you can help me.
I am looking to find the artist who painted a picture in Victorian times of a grandfather sitting in a chair with his small grandchildren around him, dressed up his old clothes. The young woman who is most likely the daughter is stood by his side and is proudly showing off the children to grandpa.
There is a beautiful tortoiseshell cat in front ot the chair.

A friend has the painting and I would love to find out more about this.

I love the painting and I had not seen it before.
Today I spent some time just looking at it.

I have tried googling using the words "Victorian grandfather grandchildren around him, daughter cat" but not found anything close. Have you thought of tweeting a pic of it to the national gallery? Just an idea??

Not knowing the Artists name makes it difficult, I guess it's unsigned.
