The second season of ITV’s period drama series Mr Selfridge will premiere on Sunday January 19th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Mr Selfridge is set in London in 1909, at a time when women were revelling in a new sense of freedom and modernity. Harry wanted to indulge, empower and celebrate these women and so opened the doors of his lavish department store, on London’s famous Oxford Street. The drama series is produced by ITV Studios & PBS Masterpiece and stars Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street), Frances O’Connor (Piccadily Jim), Gregory Fitoussi (Spiral), Aisling Loftus (The Borrowers), Trystan Gravelle (Anonymous), Zoe Tapper (Desperate Romantics), Polly Walker (Warehouse 13), Aidan McArdle (Garrow’s Law) and Cal Macaninch (Downton Abbey).
The show’s second season opens in 1914 as the store celebrates its 5th anniversary of trading. Harry is proud of the store’s success but there is no time to rest on his laurels. With rumours rife with talk of war in Europe, he prepares staff for challenging times ahead. The store must play its own part in the war effort and help keep morale high on the home front. Now more than ever Harry needs his wife, Rose, by his side. But in the last five years, they have become increasingly estranged. Whilst Rose has been spending long periods in America with the couple’s daughters and their son Gordon attends school in Winchester, Harry lives the life of a single man in London.
