My Aunt was telling me about this when she phoned yesterday .. over 600 "dippers" opposite where she n my uncle live in Cobo Bay Guernsey. Over 600 people took part, raising funds for the local Cheshire home...

Hundreds of islanders braved a chilly morning on Guernsey's Cobo beach for the annual Boxing Day dip. The event raises money for the Guernsey Cheshire Home. Each year hundreds take to the water, with many more packing the beach and lining the seawall to witness the spectacle. Afterwards, those who do brave the waves are offered a warm drink as a thank you for their efforts. The dip attracts a number of well-known islanders, including a number of Guernsey FC players who were in among the cross for the icy encounter!

That is one tradition I would not dream of taking part in  brrrrrrrrrrrrr
