I thought you would have loads of experience to share.
My tip is find out as much as you can about the persons illness.

The first thing I did was go to the Library and get books on the condition, it was 1997 but today we have so much information on the Internet.

I agree Annie,

don't be too proud to ask for help and admit to family and friends what you go through.

This is such a good topic. I bet we could go on for pages and pages!

Remember mental health problems creep up on you.

Take care of both their mental and physical health as well as your own. Easier to manage if you notice changes early. Depression and anxiety are prolific in carers and carees.
