Touching story of nanny who has cared for mentally impaired man for 37 YEARS after his parents abandoned him when he was just one month old
Zhuang Moli, 81, from Fuzhou, south-east China, cares for him full time
Hired by a couple as a nanny to look after their son while they went to work
Never heard from his parents since the day they left the baby on his own
A touching story has emerged from China of a nanny who cared for a severely disabled boy for near four decades after his parents abandoned him at just one month old.
81-year-old Zhuang Moli from the city of Fuzhou in south-east China never left his side. Even though he’s now an adult who goes by the nickname Da Tou, he still needs her full time care, reports The People’s Daily Online. They both live in a dilapidated building in the city, and do not have a lot of money between them. Da Tou cannot work and is completely bedbound,.
37 years ago, Zhuang Moli was hired by a Hong Kong couple, who lived in Longhu, Jinjiang at the time, as a nanny to look after their newborn son whilst they went to work. The couple cruelly abandoned him and fled to Hong Kong when he was just one month old, they left without a trace. Since then, even though the two were never connected by blood, they were inseparable. To raise him, Zhuang spent a lot of her time scavenging on the streets for food and money.
Da Tou was born completely paralyzed which was not easy for Zhuang, but she told local reporter she never wanted to give up. She says even though he cannot move, he is very clever. She often plays him classic Chinese music to get him excited, and they sing along together to cheer him up.
The house where they live is almost completely bare, Zhuang made a bed out of two long benches for them to sleep on. It’s also the place where Da Tou has spent most of his life. When reporters arrived to interview Zhuang about her touching story, along with Da Tou, they were both extremely excited. Da Tou cannot say many words but he raised his head and greeted them with a huge smile.
For meals, Da Tou can only really have liquids through a straw, so they eat a lot of soup and noodles. Zhuang also mashes veg up so it is easier for him to swallow. With help from the local police station, Zhuang was given some money to help care for Da Tou, 30,000 Yuan (£3113) was donated to them.
Zhuang has never heard from Da Tou's parents ever since the day they left them on their own.
