Thanks Annie and Mo, Just called plusnet ... total of £22.75 for 12 months broadband and landline - £3.25 a month plus £14.50 line rental plus £5 anytime. The £5 anytime I can drop after the first month making it even cheaper - £17.75! . My Virgin was £34.14 and they only way they would do it cheaper is if I signed up for 18 months, and then it wasn't cheaper than plusnet with the £5 anytime calls included

now phone virgin and tell them you are leaving and quote this offer
they will give you the same - you see

I have tried, n they wouldn't lower the price ... so have gone with Plusnet ...

The £5 for all phone calls anytime I can cancel as soon as I have my user account so only pay for one month. Then I can use account to monitor my usage n if I am under 10GB monthly usage I can downgrade and will only pay £1.99  a month, plus £14.50 line rental = £16.49 - less than HALF what I was paying on Virgin (was £34.14 - was cheapest they would quote me!!!)

If I decide to keep the unlimited usage will be £18.49, that's £15.74 less !
