Lancs County Council to axe 2,500 jobs

Lancashire County Council plans to axe 2,500 jobsLancashire County Hall, Preston The authority has made £220m of cuts since 2010
About 2,500 full-time jobs are to go at Lancashire County Council because of budget cuts, the authority has said.

The staff cuts are expected to come into force by April 2016.

Lancashire County Council leader Jennifer Mein said the authority would do "everything" to avoid compulsory redundancies.

She said she was "absolutely devastated" but it was the "harsh reality" of the £300m of savings it needed to make over four years.

And no doubt other councils across the country will be forced to do the same if they already haven't, where will the cuts end, there will soon be nothing left to pick up.

One of my daughter Stephanies neighbours got told on friday that she is being made redundant and works for the local council

Have you seen how many councillors there are in your area?
I don't know, but why cant they cut down on having so many of those, instead of picking on the sick and disabled.
