i took a really upsetting phone call

Postby wendy » 30 Sep 2015, 10:37

A social worker contacted me for a single mum who cares for her daughter who has complex needs and requested a laptop.
When I phoned the mother, she wanted the laptop for her daughter and told me she owns an IPad. I explained that we could not help because that is not what our charity is about.

I felt bad about the way she put the phone down on me so I phoned back to tell her about Chill and all your wonderful support and help she would get if she took a look, and I asked her to email me so I could send her details of the cheap computers available from Get on Line.

She was crying and said she did not have the strength to do anything when people did not want to give her a laptop.
I said that is not correct, but we have to stick to our rules, and I was trying to help her, but she put the phone down on me.
She obviously had not been told the correct information.
This was from Stonham Housing and I am not pleased.

Sounds to me like she turned on the tears in hope you would give in and say she could have one.

It must the hard when you get calls Like that.

You have a criteria nad have to stick to it or the most worthy of people will miss out. The fact they had had a pad is more than most people.

I hope you can put her behind you lovely Wendy.

I have to remember it is not the carers fault it is the support worker who dont bother to read stuff and then pass on the wrong information.
