if it is only £1.80 an hour you could consume a lot of produce in that time.

Also i like to take my time and not be rushed. We spend far too much time running around if I felt I was on the clock i wouldn't enjoy my well earned coffee. Debz goes to a cafe as a respite. It is not restful to be thinking about how long you have been sat there.

On the whole I think it is nuts!!

Walk past many cafes during the daytime and you'll see people sitting inside, nursing a coffee as they work away at their laptops. If you're spending all day buying one expensive coffee after another, though, the costs can really add up.

But for those who work outside of the traditional office environment, there is a potential new alternative - pay-per-minute cafes.

Ziferblat is a concept that has already proved popular in Russia - and now the chain has opened its first cafe in London's Old Street.

The founders say that "everything is free, except the time you spend there". Customers pay 3p per minute - or £1.80 an hour - for unlimited food, coffee and access to wi-fi. You can even bring your own food or drink.

BBC News went along to meet owner Ivan Meetin and some of the new customers.
