What is your vision of a compassionate healthcare organisation?

Over the next few months, researchers at Coventry University (@CovUni_CTEHR) are working with NHS England to understand the characteristics of compassionate healthcare organisations.

We will be running a number of projects to inform this work and to underpin future developments by NHS England to support NHS commissioners and providers to be ‘compassionate organisations’.
We want to know what you think a ‘compassionate healthcare organisation’ looks like

This research campaign is happening right now. We will be collecting all tweets with the hashtag #ShowsWorkplaceCompassion from the project launch date of 21 April 2016, focussing on the first month’s tweets.

It’s easy to take part. Just tweet your views about what activities, actions, policies, philosophies, approaches, demonstrate that a healthcare organisation is compassionate using the hashtag #ShowsWorkplaceCompassion.

It took a serious accident for my autistic son to get the help he needed

I don’t wonder how the accident could have been avoided, because I know. The way everything was at the time, I don’t see how any parent or carer could have avoided it other than by marching to the council offices, handing their child over and saying: “Here, you do it now. I’ve asked for help repeatedly and you’ve given me none. I’ve had enough.”

The accident happened in the holidays. As usual, my autistic child and his siblings were stuck at home inside. I could no longer keep them all safe on my own outside so it was better not to go out. This had been going on for a year.

The daughter of Norwich City legend and World Cup winner Martin Peters spoke for the first time today of her father’s battle with Alzheimer’s.

The midfielder, who played more than 200 times for the Canaries between 1975 and 1980, hasn’t been to any of the celebration events this year marking 50 years since he was part of the England team which won the World Cup.

Martin’s daughter Leann, 50, told the Sunday Mirror: “Dad hasn’t been to any of the 1966 celebration dinners so far. We had to pull him out. The stress was too much.”
