FREE film screenings, cream teas and bus tours will be among activities on offer during Carers Week.

Unpaid carers and the people they look after are being treated to special events between June 18 and 24.

Carers Champions, sponsored by Call 24 and Plymouth City Council, are putting on a wide range of activities.

Sarah Tuhill, from Carers Champions, said: “There will be lots of information and advice available to help support carers in their caring roles and our aim is to try to reach as many carers as possible to let them know about the support on offer in Plymouth.”

The week will start with a launch at Derriford on Monday, June 18 from 10am. There will be information stands for carers in the foyer of the hospital.

On Tuesday, June 19 carers have an opportunity to attend a screening of British Comedy ‘Salmon Fishing in The Yemen’ at Plymouth Arts Centre. It will be followed by a reception and refreshments also in the Arts Centre organised by Colebrook Housing Society.

An historical guided bus tour of Plymouth will take place on June 20, followed by a cream tea at Chocaccino on the Barbican.

On Friday, June 22 there will be a health information event between 11am and 3pm at Plymouth Central Library. A cream tea will be available and Carers Champions staff will be on hand with information and advice.

Carers Information Day takes place on Saturday, June 23 at Plymouth Guildhall. There will be information, fun activities and pampering.
