Pop star Olly Murs helps young Cornish girl with cerebral palsy

A TV programme featuring singer Olly Murs helped a Cornish family seek help for their daughter who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at just 18 months old.

After watching the pop singer take part in a charity version of Noel Edmonds’ popular game show Deal or No Deal, the family decided to find out more about what the Brainwave charity could offer.

Helston-based mum Maria Bury said: “Phoebe was born early at 29 weeks and weighing just 1lb 14oz – she was no bigger than a bag of sugar.

“At first she appeared to do really well but after four weeks she developed two infections that led to brain damage.

“There didn’t really seem to be a lot that the health authorities could do for her and it was thanks to a popular TV programme, “Deal or No Deal” which featured Olly Murs trying to win money for his charity Brainwave that we became aware of the charity.”

Fed-up June Monaghan, 49, claims her desperate pleas to have a tub fitted for wheelchair-bound Jonjo Murphy have been snubbed.

And for the past SEVEN MONTHS she taken celebral palsy sufferer Jonjo, 17, to a Premier Inn four miles away from her home to give him a proper wash.

Last night 5ft 2in June, of Robroyston, Glasgow, said: “Washing him was a nightmare in the shower so I started using the bath at a hotel because it’s bigger and easier.

“It’s the only way to make sure he has a proper wash.

HE has spent most of his Christmas Days in hospital, but now a young boy who can only communicate by blinking is looking to bring some festive cheer to others with the release of a Christmas single.

Adam Bojelian, 12, who has cerebral palsy, is blind and suffers from a severe seizure disorder, is donating 50p from every download of Christmas Gibbons to the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland.

And the Forthview Primary pupil has been given a boost after getting the backing of film star Ewan McGregor.
