Macmillan Cancer Support is attacking plans in the Welfare Reform Bill to remove the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) after a year.

A new, cheap, less-invasive way to test for oesophageal cancer has won £50,000 as one of the first of the Department of Health’s innovations awards winners.

Cytosponge, a test for oesophageal cancer costing £25 compared to the £600 of a traditional endoscopy, came second in the DoH’s Innovation Challenge.

A campaign raising awareness about the symptoms of cancer is urging people to visit their doctor if they think they have any of the signs.

 The Be Clear on Cancer campaign – which has a roadshow in Norwich today – hopes to save lives by making people more aware about possible signs of breast, lung and bowel cancer.
