Will my autistic son be hit if I need care?

My home is in joint names with my son. As I get older (I am 68) if I need care how would he be affected? He is a 29 year old high level autistic and is deemed by government as not suitable for employment. SB.

The rules governing the treatment of property in the financial assessment to pay for long-term residential care include a number of instances when the value of a property should be disregarded.

Plans for new sensory centre in Ilminster for families with autism

A NEW sensory centre in Ilminster will be opened by Yeovil MP David Laws later this year.

The centre will provide support, advice, a sensory room and a play area for carers and families affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder or other varying complex needs.

After the official opening at 10.30am on September 14 the centre will stay open for families and carers to drop in and talk to the founders about the support available.

Concern at takeover of Wiltshire’s autism service

Members of NHS Wiltshire have expressed concern at allowing Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership  to provide an autism diagnosis service.
NHS Wiltshire went through a rigorous process to identify qualifed providers to supply the service in the county.
Two organisations met the criteria, AWP and Autism Diagnostic Research Centre while a third, Social Enterprise Quality of Life, conditionally qualified.
