Once a year Carers Week is celebrated all over the country – and nowhere more so than in the Ribble Valley.

The area’s Crossroads Care team acknowledges the role carers play in looking after loved ones in their own homes and know how they value respite breaks.

So during the special week from June 13 to 19, there will be several events taking place either to raise funds or to promote the service.

At Booths in Longridge and Clitheroe, trustees and friends of the charity will be collecting and promoting Crossroads, and in both towns people will be able to find Crossroad Bears which will be hiding in some shop windows.

They will be there for youngsters from seven to 16 years to spot in a competition which they can enter by picking up an entry form from any participating shop.

Organisers explain “When you have found a bear, enter your name and have a guess at how far the bear may have travelled. Prizes will be awarded.”

On Sunday, June 19, in St Mary’s Centre in Clitheroe, a musical event will feature the Clitheroe Pop Choir, friends from Ribble Valley Youth Group and young saxophonist Tom Allonby. This starts at 2pm, tickets are £5 and £3 for children under 16. Funds raised will be used to provide extra care for carers of any age.

Crossroads Care Ribble Valley would welcome help from anyone who would like to be involved with the activities of the charity and can be contacted on 01200 422104.
