Family Carers random help survey

Carers will be asked about a range of issues such as quality of life in a survey over the next few weeks.

Carers across Northamptonshire are being asked for their views on the support services they receive in a random survey by Northamptonshire County Council.

Around 1,000 surveys will be sent to people who care for a loved one and the results will help shape how services including respite breaks and training will be developed and improved in the future.

Cllr Suresh Patel, county council cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Around one in 10 people in Northamptonshire regularly cares for someone, whether it is a husband, wife, parent or friend.

“Those carers perform an incredibly worthwhile role, but we need to make sure we are not overlooking their needs and ensure that someone is looking after them.

“That’s why we are undertaking this survey to find out what they think of the support they receive and whether there is more we can do to offer practical support and information to help them in their caring role.”

The county council provides support and services to the estimated 70,000 carers in Northamptonshire by working in partnership with a number of organisations including Northamptonshire Carers, Crossroads and Care UK.

Completed surveys should be returned to Northamptonshire County Council by December 12.

Carers who complete a survey will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a stay in a holiday cottage, a pamper day or high street shopping vouchers.
